Fleeing a broken marriage, Detective Sergeant Patrick Graves has recently moved from Toronto to Mount Weston, a small town in western Ontario. His wish to leave behind the problems of big city life and start again appears to be satisfied by Mount Weston's peaceful, rural nature. But Mount Weston is not all it appears to be.
The women of Mount Weston are being targeted by a peeping tom, and a series of arsons has the town doubly on edge. When a body is found in a burned-out barn, the situation escalates dramatically.
The two cases come together as this powerful novel of anger and obsession reaches an alarming and unforeseen climax.

There are a lot of books out there about people who flee life circumstances and head off to some small town to "start over". This happens in "Whirlwind" but there the similarities end. Patrick Graves was a detective in Toronto who moves to small town Mount Weston after a divorce, only to be caught up in the linked investigations of a peeping tom, a series of arsons and a homicide. Graves gets more than he bargained for in this small town and I found the story to be both fast-paced and a good thriller with interesting twists thrown into the story line. Definitely an enjoyable read from a talented writer.Product details

Whirlwind edition by David Anderson Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
"Whirlwind" is a quick-paced, fun and easy-to-read mystery with believable characters who, though clever and skilled at their jobs, nevertheless also have real-life problems just like its readers! What I loved most about this book is how the plot takes turns that you would never expect. Well worth your time, and I look forward to more from Diamond in the future.
For what it is, it's alright, but I didn't find anything memorable about this book. That comes from the fact that I barely remember having read it! I probably won't buy anything more by this author.
I enjoyed this story from the very beginning and it held my interest to the end. I will definitely look for more from this author.
A small town in Canada has to deal with a peeping tom and a firebrand. The police force has no idea where to begin and is assisted by a female officer from another area. The descriptions of the characters and the reasons they behave as they do are appropriate and gave the impression that the author had experience in the psychology behind certain behaviour patterns. An easy and well written novel.
